Job Description

The Assistant is responsible for helping in the preparation and cooking a wide variety of foods, including meats, vegetables, and desserts, according to recipes and standards. This role involves supervising junior kitchen staff, ensuring food quality and presentation, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. The Senior Cook must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, and maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation and Cooking:

Prepare and cook a variety of foods following recipes and menu specifications.
Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest quality standards.
Adjust recipes to accommodate special dietary needs or food allergies.
Supervision and Training:

Supervise junior cooks and kitchen staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
Delegate tasks to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of kitchen staff, providing feedback and support.
Kitchen Operations:

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in good working order.
Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain stock levels.
Oversee food storage and ensure proper labeling and rotation of products.
Quality Control:

Ensure all dishes meet established standards for taste, presentation, and quality.
Perform quality checks on ingredients and finished products.
Address any issues with food quality or presentation promptly.
Compliance and Safety:

Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Ensure kitchen staff follow proper hygiene practices.
Stay updated on health and safety regulations and implement necessary changes.
Menu Development:

Collaborate with the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager to develop and update menu items.
Provide input on new recipes and culinary techniques.
Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Cook, with at least 5 years in a professional kitchen environment.
Culinary degree or equivalent training and experience.
Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and ingredients.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.
Manual dexterity to handle kitchen equipment and tools.
Working Conditions:

Fast-paced kitchen environment.
May require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
