Job Title Executive: Motor and Mass Market
Level/ Job Grade: Executive
Department Motor and Mass Markets (Retail)

Job Purpose Drives sustainable growth, profitability and innovation within the Motor and Mass Market business lines. Leads the development and implementation of the strategy for the technical operations, distribution and total profitability of the business line. The executive will foster a high-performance culture aligned with business objectives, ensuring regulatory compliance while capitalizing on market opportunities and delivering exceptional stakeholder value.

Technical Competencies
• Technical, commercial and financial understanding of insurance management
• Ability to develop and deploy the Motor and Mass Market/retail strategy to achieve growth and profitability milestones.
• Ability to oversee underwriting/reinsurance processes, ensuring effective risk assessment and adherence to company standards and guidelines.
• Retail sales management skills, experience and capabilities
• Strong retail distribution management skills and experience
• Experience in agency management and alternative distribution channels including partnerships and bancassurance
• Capacity to supervise claims management practices and ensure best practices are followed for efficiency and accuracy.
• Experience in reviewing and approving reinsurance program structures, ensuring adequate coverage, balance sheet and profit optimization.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance to ensure the business meets statutory requirements.
• Competence in reviewing technical reports and analytics to inform strategic decision-making.
• Skills in guiding product development and market innovation, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Ability to oversee and optimize diverse sales channels (direct, agency, broker, bancassurance).
• Capability to evaluate actuarial assessments and ensure their alignment with business strategies.
• Financial acumen for reviewing budgets, financial reports, and PCL management to ensure profitability.

Academic and Professional Qualifications Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, or a related field.
• Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Insurance, or a relevant field is preferred.
• Professional Certification in insurance, such as ACII (Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute or equivalent, is highly desirable.
• Experience: A minimum of 10 years in the insurance industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership s Business Development
• Develop and execute a strategic plan for the Motor and Mass Market segments to meet the company’s sales and profit targets.
• Develop a strong branch and agency network that delivers on the retail distribution and customer experience strategy.
• Identify new and alternative market opportunities that expand the company’s market share.
• Lead the development and promotion of new innovative products in line with our customer value proposition.
• Report on key performance metrics to the EXCO and the Board periodically as required.

Operational Oversight s Technical Management
• Oversee all technical operations, including underwriting, claims, risk management, and reinsurance to ensure optimal business performance.
• Formulate and implement policies, guidelines, and procedures to drive efficiency and achieve corporate objectives.
• Ensure accurate submission of regulatory returns and compliance with the National Insurance Commission.

Financial Management s PsL Responsibility
• Prepare annual budgets for the Motor and Mass Market segments in line with the company’s strategic objectives.
• Monitor and control expenditures to ensure financial performance aligns with set targets.
• Provide financial analysis, strategic insights, and recommendations to optimize profitability.
• Ensure the integrity of financial and technical data to support accurate corporate reporting.

People s Performance Management
• Cultivate a positive and productive work environment that motivates employees and supports professional development.
• Lead and mentor a diverse team of Unit Heads and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational and financial goals.
• Implement the company’s performance management practices to drive performance.
• Foster a culture of Collaboration, Innovation, Care, and Integrity
