Job Description
Job Title: Chief Security Officer (CSO)
Location: Accra - Ghana
Reports To: Executive Director
Job Summary:
The Chief Security Officer (CSO) is responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s security strategy to safeguard assets, personnel, and information. This role ensures comprehensive protection against internal and external threats. The CSO leads security teams, manages risk assessments, and collaborates with other departments to maintain a secure and resilient organizational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Security Management:
o Develop and execute the organization’s overall security strategy and policies, aligning them with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
o Assess and adapt security strategies to address emerging threats and changes in the business environment.
2. Risk Assessment and Management:
o Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats to the organization.
o Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks and enhance security posture.
3. Physical Security Oversight:
o Oversee physical security operations, including access control, surveillance systems, and facility security.
o Ensure the implementation of security protocols and procedures to protect company facilities and assets.
4. Crisis Management and Response:
o Develop and manage crisis response plans and procedures, including emergency response and disaster recovery plans.
o Lead and coordinate responses to security incidents, ensuring effective resolution and minimal impact on the organization.
5. Team Leadership and Development:
o Lead, manage, and mentor security teams, including physical security personnel and cybersecurity experts.
o Provide training and professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and performance.
6. Regulatory Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations, laws, and industry standards.
o Stay informed about changes in regulatory requirements and update policies and procedures accordingly.
7. Collaboration and Communication:
o Collaborate with senior management, legal, HR, and other departments to address security concerns and implement cross-functional security initiatives.
o Communicate security policies, procedures, and updates to all levels of the organization.
8. Budget and Resource Management:
o Develop and manage the security budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high security standards.
o Evaluate and recommend security technologies and solutions to enhance organizational security.
9. Reporting and Documentation:
o Prepare and present reports on security activities, incidents, and performance metrics to senior management and the board of directors.
o Maintain accurate documentation of security policies, procedures, and incident reports.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Information Security, or a related field (Master’s degree or relevant certifications preferred).
• Experience: Minimum 12 years of experience in security management. including 6 years in a leadership role. Ex- Police or Military is preferred.
